What’s your last thought as you fall asleep at night? I hope it is a happy and creative one rather than a troubled and worrisome one!
The last thought on your mind as you fall asleep is what your subconscious mind is likely to use to create your dreams throughout the night. Many people use their “falling asleep time” to review their day and think about what they should’ve done, what they didn’t get done, the bad things that happened that day, what so-and-so person at work or at school is going to think about x,y or z issue, why did they eat so much during the day, why can’t they sleep well, etc… Reviewing the day and thinking in this way is very counterproductive to creating the life you wish to live.
If you want to create a life that is more aligned with your goals and positive vision for you, start by using this magical time as you fall asleep to think only about the ideas, concepts and experiences that you want to bring into your life. For example; if you’d like to be thinner… repeat in your mind, over and over again: Every day in every way I am becoming thinner and thinner. or What if I begin to become thinner and thinner, what will that look like? What will I be doing differently? And while you repeat these positive phrases or evocative questions, let your subconscious mind take a hold of that positive input and create dreams and new habits in the direction of your desires. It may take a few weeks and/or some formal hypnosis; but that sleep time is critical and positive thinking is a must during those moments before sleep. If you wake up in the middle of the night; simply go back to repeating your positive phrases and you will find it easier to drift back to sleep.
Does that seem a bit too easy to you? If so and even if not; please take a moment to think about a recent time when you had to get up early to catch a flight or get to work for a special project, or some other important event. You set your alarm clock and then as you fell asleep you thought about how you must be sure to wake up in time so you don’t miss your special event. Then you found that you woke yourself up without the use of the alarm; in fact you woke up just a little before the clock alarm rang. Isn’t that interesting that you could do that? Even if it was just a few times that you did it? How do you think that happened? It is the power of your subconscious mind. If your mind can do that; even just some of the time, just imagine what else you can accomplish when you guide it in the direction you desire as you fall asleep.
If you have trouble focusing on something positive that you’d like to create. No worries; simply think on something pleasant that happened during the day or something pleasant that you have planned for the next day or few days. Even if it is just the idea of waking up and having some tea or coffee, saying hello to someone you care about, listening to some good music… whatever is enjoyable to you is perfect – because of course, you are the expert on you!
